چکیده

Subsurface microstructures influence the friction and wear behavior of metallic tribological systems, among other factors. To gain a basic understanding microstructural changes occurring during sliding processes, face-centered cubic model for example copper system with sapphire sphere against it, were previously characterized. Such systems showed evolution dislocation self-organization phenomenon called trace line. test occurrence this arrangement in bcc metals, study ruby ball was slid electropolished iron under an increasing normal load. The track topography subsurface microstructure characterized using white light interferometry scanning transmission electron microscopy. analysis suggested that at least iron, line is connected onset pronounced plastic deformation.

Microstructural Evolution of X45CrNiW189 Valve Steel During Hot Deformation

The hot compression tests were carried on X45CrNiW189 valve steel (X45) in the temperature range of 1000– 1200 °C and the strain rate range of 0.004 – 0.5 s-1 in order to study the high temperature softening behavior of this steel. For the exact prediction of flow stress, the effective stress-effective strain curves were obtained from experiments under various conditions. On the basis of experi...

Microstructural evolution during film growth

Atomic-scale control and manipulation of the microstructure of polycrystalline thin films during kinetically limited low-temperature deposition, crucial for a broad range of industrial applications, has been a leading goal of materials science during the past decades. Here, we review the present understanding of film growth processes—nucleation, coalescence, competitive grain growth, and recrys...

Damage evolution in compacted graphite iron during thermomechanical fatigue testing

Thermomechanical fatigue properties of a compacted graphite iron in an out of phase configuration are investigated for different maximum temperatures and mechanical strain ranges. Furthermore, the stress-strain hysteresis loops are analysed and in particular the unloading modulus, i.e. the elastic modulus measured during specimen unloading, is obtained from each cycle. This material parameter h...

Interface Anisotropy and its Effect on Microstructural Evolution During Coarsening

The driving force for coarsening is provided by the excess interfacial free energy. In a system with isotropic interface energies, classical coarsening theories can predict the evolution of the sizes of spherical crystals. However, if the interfaces are anisotropic, crystal growth and shrinkage may be limited by the surface attachment/detachment rate, the motion of ledges, or the nucleation of ...

Part I. The Microstructural Evolution in Ti-Al-Nb O 1 Bcc Orthorhombic Alloys

Phase transformations and the resulting microstructural evolution of near-Ti2AlNb and Ti-12Al38Nb O 1 bcc orthorhombic alloys were investigated. For the near-Ti2AlNb alloys, the processing temperatures were below the bcc transus, while, for Ti-12Al-38Nb, the processing temperature was supertransus. Phase evolution studies showed that these alloys contain several constituent phases, namely, bcc,...
